Rotary's Christmas float raises thousands for local causes

Xmas Float

The Rotary Club of Wilmslow Dean spread their message of goodwill over the festive season as they toured around Wilmslow and Handforth.

Having raised £3500, Rotary wish to thank everyone who gave so generously during their travels around the area with Santa on board the re-furbished Rotary float.

Rotary have been touring the neighbourhood for their annual house to house collection for over 20 years, raising money for local good causes and waving to delighted children as they watch from their bedroom windows.

Rotarian Geoff Shelmerdine said "Proceeds from the collections will go to a range of local and international charities. Current beneficiaries have included a number of local schools, the Guides Association, the Wilmslow AirTraining Cadets, Crossroads Care, the Time Out Group, the Mary Sunley Canal Boat and of course the newly established Jubilee Rose Garden in Wilmslow where the Club have planted 100 rose bushes."

The Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club are always interested in hearing from local charities and good causes who might have specific current projects that would benefit from additional funding. Email organiser Colin Eggleton for further information.
