Artisan Market hailed a big success in Handforth

Following its success in Wilmslow, Middlewich and Knutsford, the award winning Artisan Market went down a treat at The Paddock in Handforth last weekend.

Family and friends came together to enjoy the shopping experience, soak up the atmosphere and be entertained by Handforth Jazz Band and Handforth Model Engineering Society.

Organiser and Handforth resident Vicky Jackson said "Last Saturday's Artisan Market in Handforth completely exceeded our expectations. It was incredible to see the centre of Handforth so full of people, full of vitality and life.

"We were delighted that thousands of local people came out and supported this community event, and we are really looking forward to building on this success over the next two months of this trial period. Very much looking forward to the 10th of November."

The Artisan Market will be back in Handforth on Saturday 10th November.

This Saturday, October 20th, sees their return to Grove Street for the Wilmslow Artisan Market where they will be joined by Friends of the Earth, a Greater Manchester initiative which campaigns to promote sustainable food, and the amazing Loose Change buskers, who have raised in excess of £30,000 for Cancer Research.

Members of Alderley & Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company will also be performing extracts from their forthcoming production 'Boogie Nights, the 70s Musical'. Members of the cast will be appearing in full costume from 11am to 1pm – singing songs from the show, and creating a 'Boogie Wonderland' for visitors to the Artisan Market.

Plus of course over a 100 of the finest food, drink, art and craft stalls will be at Grove Street from 10am to 4pm.

I was really impressed by the way that the Paddock became a centre for Handforth - it is a good space, but not creatively used usually. I hope the owners appreciate what events like this do for footfall and spend on the shops surrounding. Someone from Peter Herd told me that they had had as many customers in the first 2 hours of opening as they normally have in a whole day, and they were very happy that there was a second bakery stall on the market to give people a contrast. If we were looking at the vision for Handforth, I think markets of a decent quality in that square would be a central driver.

We had a great time at the market, it was lovely and created a great atmosphere. We go to the Wilmslow one when we can but it is always such a crush, whereas the Handforth market had lots there but was much more spacious. Please keep bringing it, it felt good to live in Handforth for the first time in the 18 months we have been here as so much has been closing and it is dead there usually.
