Green Room presents Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit

Blithe Spirit

The Wilmslow Green Room's new season for 2012-2013 opens this Saturday, October 13th, with their production of Noel Coward's witty comedy, Blithe Spirit.

Blithe Spirit is renowned for having set a record run for non-musical plays in the West End which was only surpassed by The Mousetrap in 1957. The play premiered in 1941 and ran for 1,997 performances before transferring to Broadway. In his usual inimitable style, Coward's intuitive dialogue is justly amplified by the Green Room's strong cast in this timeless and much-loved comedy.

Charles Condomine (Ian Tyler) is a socialite and successful novelist. Whilst researching information for his new book on the occult, he invites the eccentric Madame Arcati (Val Middleton-Egan) to hold a séance. In doing

so, Charles's first wife Elvira (Keeley Chesworth) is inadvertently summoned and proceeds to wreak mischief and mayhem on the household. Charles's current wife, Ruth (Lindsey Barker) not only can't see her predecessor, she doesn't believe she's around. Ghostly goings-on ensue!

Blithe Spirit runs at the Wilmslow Green Room's Chapel Lane theatre from Saturday October 13th until Saturday October 20th. For further information, go to www.wgrsoc.org.uk.
