Wilmslow Leisure Centre's fitness suite will be closed from tomorrow, Friday, August 31st, for refurbishment.

A temporary facility with limited equipment will be available from Saturday, September 1st, in the former customer service point in the leisure centre. When completed, the new facility will consist of the latest high-tech equipment from Matrix Fitness.

A spokesperson from Cheshire East Council said "During the closure, customers are reminded that the temporary facility may be busy and that members of Everybody – Cheshire East Council's health and fitness scheme – can use any other Cheshire East facility with their membership card should they wish.

"Cheshire East Council hopes this does not cause too much inconvenience to regular users but would like to reassure them that the new facility will be worth the wait."

One can only wonder under direction of the beloved Councillor Jones, if after refurbishment the fitness suite will resemble a Tesco superstore!

I was wondering that. Didn't they say recently that they had a plan to knock the leisure centre down, build something else nearer to the High School, put a supermarket on the original leisure centre site, and then put apartments on the site of the original supermarket.

What a lot of effort to think about something you're going to leave where it is and just refurbish. Or are they? Wasn't that the Wilmslow Vision or something? Perhaps they're just going to have grander signage instead.
