Health food shop closes down

Julian Graves on Grove Street is the latest Wilmslow shop to close its doors.

The health food retailer, which specialised in selling dried fruit and nuts, went into administration last month.

Deloitte, the business advisory firm, were appointed as Joint Administrators to the company on 2nd July.

Julian Graves, headquartered in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, operated out of 189 stores in high streets and shopping centres, and employed a full time equivalent workforce of 363 employees. It was purchased by the food group NBTY in 2008, who also own Holland and Barrett.

A spokesman from Deloitte said "Despite the Administrators' efforts to find a buyer for Julian Graves as a going concern, discussions with interested parties have not led to a viable offer for the business and, to date, no additional interested parties have come forward. It has unfortunately, therefore, been necessary to close stores that have run out of stock and to make employees redundant.

"The Administrators are grateful for the loyalty, support and hard work of the Julian Graves' employees under these difficult circumstances. All employees will be paid in full for the work they do during the Administration trading period. A dedicated employee helpline is open to answer any enquiries from employees, and a specialist team remains in place to deal with any late interest that we may receive in the business."

The closure of Julian Graves follows the closure of Henry Lloyd clothes shop on Alderley Road and Felicini restaurant on Water Lane.
