New president at Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club

It's all change at the top of Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club, an impressive local club whose 22 members do a lot of great work in our community, whilst at the same time having fun.

Earlier this month the Rotary Club held their President's Evening and Handover at the Deanwater Hotel where retiring president Marianne Martyn handed over the heavy chain of office Ian Bradley.

In her handover speech, Marianne Martyn, who worked in strategic marketing management, said "Last year we did a tremendous amount of work in the local community - supporting the young, boat trips for the elderly, and the disabled. We staged the scarecrow festival, with the parade through the town, for all to enjoy which increased footfall to local businesses. We raised funds for several local and overseas charities, but above all, we have had great fun with a fantastic social programme."

New president Ian Bradley is the Head of Academic Services for the Engineering Faculty at Manchester University.

He said "The year has already got off to a fantastic start with our third successful Scarecrow Festival in Wilmslow. We have over 20 projects for the coming year including a Jubilee Rose Garden for Wilmslow, a Not the Beaujolais Breakfast and our Christmas collections so plenty to keep us busy. It is great to work with and within the local community and we are open for all to join us or get involved in some way."
