Water Lane bed specialists Feather & Black are the winners of this year's Best Business Scarecrow competition having beaten ninety nine competitors across the town.
The winning scarecrow was created by Sales Consultant, Mavis Ackerley with help from Store Manager, Teresa MacNorton and affectionately known as scarecrow 'Stanley' by the staff.
Teresa said, "We are delighted to have won, Stanley has attracted many admirers from school children and passing motorists whilst on display outside the showroom during the annual Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival. This event really brings the community together and is so much fun."
Ian Bradley, President of the Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club who organise the event said "The Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival is a fantasic event bringing people out across Wilmslow and beyond.The Businesses, schools and other organisations who participate seem to benefit both from the enjoyment in making the scarecrow, the buzz that the event creates around Wilmslow and seeing the town come alive for the Scarecrow Parade is a highlight of the year.
"There is also the additional benefit of support for a number of local charities through the proceeds. The standard of scarecrow entries was even better than last year but 'Stanley' seemed to shine through with his own personality becoming one of the Feather & Black team. We are looking forward even more scarecrows taking part in 2013."
The Carters Arms took second place and Cheshire Tile Studio were third.
The Scarecrow Hunt winners were the Hardman family from Wilmslow.
Mr Hardman said, " We are delighted to have won the Scarecrow Hunt it was a fun way to spend a wet Sunday afternoon, many thanks, we can't wait for the next one."
