Dream another dream

Following on from its huge success at Gawsworth Hall's Open Air theatre last month, the Wilmslow Green Room's production of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is on its way to Quarry Bank Mill in Styal.

In conjunction with the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2012 Open Stages initiative, this will be a first for the WGR in more ways than one. It marks their first collaboration with the National Trust, performing at one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites in the estate gardens. And it's also their first Promenade performance. So, if you missed 'The Dream' at Gawsworth, you have another chance to catch it in this completely new venture at Styal Mill.

Celia Bonner, director of this exciting production explains, "In order to be part of the Royal Shakespeare Open Stages project, we had to undertake a Shakespeare production in a way that we have never done before. Our bold and slightly scary choice is to take our production to Quarry Bank Mill at Styal for two promenade performances. We start in the village, where Nick Bottom the Weaver would live, and move through the gardens, taking the audience with us, to eventually finish in the Mill meadow. As one might imagine, this throws up all sorts of challenges, not least for our technicians who have to shine some light on the later part of the evening's entertainment."

This innovative play runs for just two Sundays, July 29th and August 5th starting at 7pm on each evening.

Tickets are limited so for further information on the production and how to purchase tickets, please go to www.wgrsoc.org.uk or call the WGR Box Office on 01625 540933.
