The 28th ASICS Wilmslow Half Marathon is fast approaching with a record number of 5200 entries.

For the fourth year running, the race has the added prestige of incorporating the England Half Marathon Championships. The added endorsement to this ever popular race guarantees that the cream of England's elite distance runners will again be on show.

A number of previous winners are competing this year and the No. 1 shirt will be worn by Nick Jones, the fastest ever British runner in the race. Nick recorded his fastest time in 2002 when he finished 4th in 63 minutes and 25 seconds, but he was beaten by three Kenyan runners.

Ex Olympian and Common Wealth games champion Diane Modahl is also entered, although at 45 years old she isn't expected to be amongst the leading ladies.

Another noteworthy runner is Sid Bailey of Deestriders who continues his record of having run in every one of the twenty-eight Wilmslow Half Marathons.

Whilst elite runners compete for championship honours, the race itself raises tens of thousands of pounds for charities as runners, many with very personal reasons, pound the streets for their own chosen charity.

The official charity chosen to benefit from the 2012 Wilmslow Half Marathon is David Lewis, which is dedicated to improving the life experiences of people with complex epilepsy, autism, learning and physical disabilities.

Traffic restrictions will be in place on Sunday, March 25th, whilst the 28th ASICS Wilmslow Half Marathon is being run. Runners and spectators are also reminded that the clocks will have moved forward one hour that morning.
