A planning application for the redevelopment of Wilmslow Garden Centre, which was destroyed by fire in June last year, has been approved by Cheshire East Council.

Plans, submitted on behalf of Klondyke Properties Ltd, include replacing the old garden centre with a main enclosed garden centre building, an open sided canopy, restaurant and kitchen with customer toilets, staff facilities and a store also provided.

Bob Hewitt, Chief Executive of Klondyke, told wilmslow.co.uk "We will commence works forthwith in respect of the new garden centre and we anticipate opening the new centre in August.

"The new garden centre and coffee shop will undoubtedly be a vast improvement on the old facility and we look forward to giving the community a new garden centre that will be of benefit to everyone."

The re-establishment of the garden centre will ensure the retention of staff who were employed at the garden centre prior to the fire and create six new positions.

The approved planning application for the redevelopment of Wilmslow Garden Centre, reference 11/4367M, can be viewed on the Cheshire East website.
