Fiesta showcases audio-visual work

The Wilmslow Guild Audio-Visual Group will be holding their annual fiesta on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd March.

Each year the group showcase their member's work at the Guild and publicise the art of Audio-Visual. The fiesta is primarily an entertainment – so visitors should enjoy it whether or not they are interested in the technicalities.

Howard Gregory, Chairman of Wilmslow Guild A-V Group, said "Digital photography means that more people than ever are taking photos, and the advent of the home computer, together with the spread of image-manipulation software, means that many people are realising that the picture they take is not just an end in itself; it can be the beginning of something more creative. We may be biased, but we believe that audio-visual is the ultimate expression of such creativity.

"Audio-Visual is the art of combining sound with pictures to make a sequence, or story, which can be about any subject under the sun. As in any branch of the Arts, the concept and the imagination, expertise (and patience!) of the producer is far more important than the equipment."

The Wilmslow Guild Audio-Visual Group was formed in 1993, and has members ranging from those who "just like messing about" to those seeking the highest distinctions and awards. Meetings include presentations by "experts" on all aspects of A-V and friendly discussion of each other's work. Some members pool resources to produce sequences that neither could produce alone.

The Wilmslow Guild Audio-Visual Group Fiesta will start at 7.30pm on both Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd March.

Tickets, priced £6, may be picked up at the Guild, or ordered by post from Suzanne Walker on 01925 753303.
