Council working to supply any missing silver bins

The new Think Silver, Think Recycling scheme is now up and running and all residents should have their new silver bin.

However, we are still receiving a few complaints from local residents who haven't yet received theirs so I contacted Cheshire East Council to see what the latest situation is.

A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council, said: "The new silver bin scheme got under way, as planned, on October 3. Due to a manufacturing problem, the delivery of some silver bins was delayed by one week.

"Any delayed deliveries have now been completed. Anyone who has not yet received their silver bin should contact the Council via our web site or by ringing 0300 123 5011.

"The delivery of the silver bins has been a big undertaking – with more than 70,000 properties included in the scheme in the north of Cheshire alone. Where properties have been accidentally missed we are working to supply bins as quickly as possible.

"We would like to reassure any residents who have yet to receive their silver bin that their recycling will be collected and to continue to use their recycling box and bag."

Guy Beardsley of Wilmslow has become very frustrated with the new recycling scheme because half of the properties on Knutsford Road, where he lives, are apparently still without silver bins.

He told me "Four weeks ago I couldn't go anywhere without running into a fully staffed silver bin roadshow complete with at least three silver bins. We are still without ours and the council have made no attempt to contact us about the delay. Recycling is hugely important but without the right equipment very difficult to carry out."
