Lindow School is preparing for International “Talk Like a Pirate Day’ on Monday, 19th September.

The theme for Key Stage 1 pupils this term is “Pirates” so lessons in various subjects will be linked to pirates.

In English, children will be reading and writing pirate stories, Maths will involve counting treasure and measuring, Science will cover materials found on ships or desert islands and History and Geography will also explore the pirate theme, culminating in a dress like a pirate day later in the term.

This week the children were introduced to Cap’n Cut Throat Jim who visited school to inspire the children to work hard to become ‘sprogs’ (junior pirates) and help him search for long lost treasure!

Now in its 9th year, “Talk Like a Pirate Day” certainly has achieved notoriety with its own Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Youtube entries. Anyone who’d like to join in next week can visit http://talklikeapirate.com for details.
