Wilmslow hosts final of regional bowling competition

Wilmslow Conservative Club was honoured to host the final of a prestigious bowling competition at the weekend.

Crowds gathered to watch the Brunner Cup on Saturday, 13th August, which is a premier team knockout competition for Crown Green Bowling in Cheshire.

The competition has taken place annually since 1910 and matches are always played on neutral greens. This year's final was won by Houldsworth WMC who beat Sale Excelsior WMC by 229 to 185.

Brian Smith, a Committee member of Wilmslow Conservative Club, said "Over 150 people of all ages attended the keenly contested event held on a warm and dry afternoon.

"Enthusiastic vocal support from both team's followers, some of whom had travelled by coach to the Wilmslow venue, ensured an exciting and entertaining afternoon for all who attended."
