To open the season, the Wilmslow Green Room is staging an Agatha Christie classic at the end of this month.
'And then There Were None', which is to be performed at Gawsworth Hall's Open Air theatre, was first published as a series in a national newspaper in 1939 and became her best-selling book when published as a novel later that year.
Ten strangers are invited to a large Manor house situated on an island off the coast of Devon, each with their own guilty secret. Through a recording, their unknown host accuses each guest of murder and proceeds to exact justice through some ingenious plotting. From start to finish, the Green Room actors will keep you guessing the identity of the lunatic killer.
The production is directed by Sonya Dykstra with help from Graham Boswell.
Sonya said "I have always thought that directing Shakespeare at Gawsworth over the years was a big enough challenge but with this play, I have been faced with the murder and disposal of five bodies from the lawn area right in front of an audience!"
So who dunnit? Is it the butler, Thomas Rogers (Charlie Cook) or his wife, Ethel (Valerie Middleton-Egan); perhaps the rich Anthony Marston (Alex Bingle) or retired war hero General MacKenzie (Ian McBride). Equally in the frame are fellow guests, Harley Street surgeon Dr Armstrong (Christina Theobald), the bible-bashing Emily Brent (Linda Batson), retired police inspector William Blore (Geoff Bird) and Judge Sir Lawrence Wargrave (Steve Williamson).
The production will runs for four nights from Thursday June 30th until Sunday July 3rd with performances starting at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased on Saturday mornings at the Green Room from 11am til midday, with no booking fee, or directly from Gawsworth Hall on 01260 223456 where a booking fee is applied.
