More Incredible Edible plants

wilmslow.co

An incredible collection of volunteers turned out to transform two of the four overgrown planters outside Wilmslow library.

They are now packed full of tasty crops donated by the volunteers and compost donated by Ned Yates Garden Centre who have been wonderfully supportive from the first plantings.

There were volunteers of all ages who got stuck in to prune, dig, sweep, sow and plant.  Now we just have to wait until it all grows to its full potential ready for the town to smell, taste and enjoy the harvest.

The idea of Incredible Edible is to promote ‘grow your own’ and show the town how nice this can look as well as smelling and tasting delicious, so that more people try it at home either in their borders amongst the flowers, in pots, baskets or going for it and building a raised bed. More than that, it’s about local community spirit and pride, making the town look nicer and reminding us to try to eat locally instead of shipping food half way around the world.

You can join in with more planting going on outside the library next month and later in the year at Wilmslow Railway Station, where Incredible Edible will be joining forces with the newly formed Friends of Wilmslow Station, to make the gateway to our town a place of edible beauty and unite Wilmslow with a strong sense of community spirit between business, volunteers and learning.
