Campaigners are delighted that a pedestrian crossing will be built on Bedells Lane.

Confirmation from the Council that work will commence on Monday, 7th March, has been welcomed by local residents. Fearing for the safety of children and elderly people, they set up the Traffic Action Group and lobbied Cheshire East Council for measures to reduce the number of speeding drivers.

Bedells Lane and Hawthorn Street will be closed for two weeks, from Monday, 7th until Friday 18th March, to enable the zebra crossing to be installed.

Bedalls Lane will be closed between Fulshaw Cross roundabout and Chapel Lane, whilst Hawthorn Street will be closed between Chapel Lane and Albert Road.

Chapel Lane, at the Bedells Lane and Hawthorn Street junction, will be closed on Sunday 13th March only.

The zebra crossing will be installed adjacent to the junction of Chapel Lane.

Either Bedells Lane or Hawthorn Street will be closed, preventing use of the through route in either direction between Fulshaw Cross roundabout and Altrincham Road throughout this period.

Access to and from Hawthorn Street via Albert Road will be open throughout the works and access to properties will be allowed at all times, but may be restricted to one direction only.

On Sunday 13th March all three roads will be closed to traffic through the junction.

The alternative route for traffic will be via B5086 Alderley Road and A538 Water Lane or vice versa.
