Scarecrow Festival helps local District Nurses

As a result of the overwhelming success of Wilmslow's first ever Scarecrow Festival, which took place in and around the town last July, the funds collected have now been distributed back into the community in support of many good causes – the final recipients being our District Nurses based at the Handforth Health Centre.

At their meeting on 18th January the Rotary Club of Wilmslow Dean made a presentation of vital clinical and office equipment worth over £1,200 to Linda Sinclair and Susan Cain from the District Nurses team.

In making the presentation, Rotary Club President, Peter Friend said "We are delighted to support our local nursing team and be able to help them directly with the provision of equipment that will assist them and in turn us. In these days of budget cuts, small items that aid productivity can so easily be restricted.

"The Scarecrow Festival was a joint effort between the Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club and the Wilmslow Business Group and we therefore thank the businesses in Wilmslow for their support."

The 2011 Scarecrow Festival will be bigger and better next year with up to 200 scarecrows taking part this year. It will run for an extended time from 27th June to 9th July with the finale on 10th July at the 100th Wilmslow Show.

Further details and entry forms will be available in March.
