Dad sets up new team for his boy racers

Wilmslow dad Phil Braybrooke has been instrumental in setting up a new racing team for some of the best young cyclists in the North West.

Velocity 3in1, based in Wilmslow, is being set up to replicate the trade team structure that operates at the junior and senior levels and will comprise of seven of the country's top young cyclists.

Phil's sons Alex and Christian will be part of the team, which will be launched on 15th January at Evans Cycles at the Trafford Centre. Evans Cycles are one of four main team sponsors, along with WD40 Company, CNP Sports Nutrition who are sponsors of Team Sky Pro and British Cycling and Benelux's leading kit manufacturer Bio Racer.

Andrew Thomas, from Lower Withington, who will be assisting Phil in managing the team said "The main purpose of the team is to expose the boys to what it is like riding for a team, rather than just talented individuals and introduce them to all aspects of working collectively and experiencing what is key to success on and off the bike."

Velocity 3in1 will start racing at the end of the month and will participate in four cycling disciplines; track, road, time trialling and cyclo-cross. The team will compete regionally, nationally and internationally throughout 2011.
