Sixth form students bring Northern pub to life

Following the huge success of "We Will Rock You" a couple of weeks ago, a group of Sixth Form students at Wilmslow High School are putting on another performance.

Around a dozen students have directed, acted, staged and marketed the production of "Two" a play by Jim Cartwright which will be shown, next week on Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th of December.

Karl Taylor, who will play the pub landlord, explained "We had three aims when putting this production together; to show that Wilmslow high school can diversify into other areas, apart from sporting success, to give us, predominately as theatre students, an opportunity to create and enjoy a performance without being under the pressure of being examined by a-level examiners and finally to raise all important funds towards our end of year celebratory May ball."

Karl added "The play itself is set in a northern pub and has a humorous nature throughout, with an underlying powerful message. We have incorporated a Christmas feel to the play with decorations and mince pies and hope that it will appeal to the local community during the festive season.

"The unique setting really helps to define the play, as much of the audience will be seated on bar stools around rugged pub tables, helping to encompass the audience in every aspect of the performance, and the wide array of characters that enter the pub should keep the audience engrossed from, start to finish."

The performances will take place at 7pm on Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th of December at Wilmslow High School. Tickets, priced £3 each, are available from the school.
