Wilmslow Town’s U11 Panthers took centre stage this weekend with a 10-0 away victory at Ashton on Mersey to keep up the pressure on the leaders in the U11 Saturday division. The Panthers’ haul included four goals for Matias Vitale and a brace for Nathan Sach. Dan Nield, Max Paton and Josh Wheeler were also on the score-sheet. In Division 2, the U11 Cougars were beaten 5-0 by local rivals Wilmslow Sports.

Town’s improving U10s enjoyed an unbeaten weekend. The U10 Panthers continued their good form in Division 1 as goals from Will Mellor and Callum Firth helped them to a 2-0 away win against Wythenshawe Amateurs.  In Division 2, the U10 Cougars also took on Wythenshawe Amateurs; a single goal from Luke Whittleworth was enough to secure a 1-1 draw. The U10 Jaguars also played out a 1-1 draw in Division 3, sharing the points with St Johns Celtic thanks to a goal from Rob Lowe.

Indeed, score draws were a feature this weekend.

The U16s retained their unbeaten record with a hard fought 2-2 draw away against Broadheath Central.  Joe Kirk and William Swift scored the goals for the league leaders.  The U13s played their part in a 10-goal thriller against Altrincham Juniors – sharing the points in a 5-5 draw. Joe Clark scored twice along with MOTM Euan Mail, Alex Wootton and Ben Booth.

At U12, the Panthers kept themselves in contention for the title as Adam Leigh, Callum McKew and Braden Harris each scored in an exciting 3-3 draw with Broadheath Central Kestrels.  The U12 Cougars came off second-best against league leaders Oswald Road JFC, losing 4-2 despite rallying strongly in the second-half.  Emmanuel Hundeyin and Connor Barton were on target for the Cougars.

It was lucky 7s for Town’s U15s as they beat Winton 4-1 to maintain their 100% record - seven wins out of seven – and keep their three point lead at the top of the table. Goals for Oliver Johnson, Joseph Norman and two for Joe Swindells -the club’s leading scorer - helped them on their way.

Two goals from Peter Boyle and one from Captain Bradley Jackson were just enough to get the U14s past Ashton on Mersey Broncos. The 3-2 away win means the U14s have taken 13 points from their last five fixtures and keeps them hot on the heels of leaders Hough End Griffins in D1.

After a recent re-shuffling of teams and leagues, Wilmslow Town is now proud to have no less than three teams playing in the top two divisions at U9 level. The Panthers, after registering a series of incredible results in D4, celebrated their bumper promotion to D2 with a nail-biting 3-3 draw against Timperley Villa Pythons. MOTM Sam Larbalestier, Aidan Martin and a late leveller from Jack Gaskin ensured a share of the points.

The U9 Jaguars, in only their second fixture at the highest level, tasted defeat against a polished side from Fletcher Moss.  Meanwhile, also in D1, the U9 Cougars were on the wrong-end of a 3-2 score line away at Sale United. Ben Mail’s two goals pushed Sale to the wire and won him the MOTM award.
