Squire required urgently for Christmas panto

Wilmslow Guild Players (WGP) are getting ready to kick off Christmas with their much-loved annual pantomime.

This year the pantomime is The Dragon of Wantley, based on an English legend involving real people, which was beloved by Victorian audiences and has now been adapted for the 21st century by that master of pantomime Norman Robbins.

But they have a problem. For personal reasons one of the cast has had to drop out, and the Players are now looking for a young person to step into their acting shoes.

The part is Squire Benjamin, and could be played by a boy or a girl, aged about 16-24. Are you interested? Or do you know anyone that may be? If so, please drop an email to Geoff Reed or call him on 01625 524699.

The pantomime runs from Wednesday 15th to Saturday 18th December at the Wilmslow Guild on Bourne Street, and includes a matinee on the Saturday afternoon.

Bill Beton, Publicity Officer at WGP, said "The actor or actress would also need to be available for the dress rehearsal on the afternoon of Sunday 12th December. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Friday evenings plus Sunday afternoons at Wilmslow Guild. However we could come to some arrangement if the person was unable to attend all rehearsals.

"This is a great opportunity to take part in a hugely rewarding production. As one of our regulars said last year, "Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the Guild Players pantomime!"

I'm pleased to say that we have found someone to take the part in our pantomime! The show must go on!

In the end one of our own members stepped up to the plate.
