Guild to host audio visual weekend

203a Centurion

This year's Great Northern Audio Visual Weekend will be held from Friday 3rd until Sunday 5th December at the usual venue, the Wilmslow Guild on Bourne Street.

On Friday evening the North West Film Archive will present a selection of films from its collection featuring the industry, cultures and traditions of life in the North West of England from the 1890s to the present day.

A national competition will be held on Saturday, where a special prize will be awarded for the best beginner's sequence, providing an excellent opportunity to see both National and International standard A-V, as well as what can be achieved by relative newcomers, all in one competition.

Proceedings on Sunday will provide the opportunity to obtain advice from the guest speakers and learn how your work might be improved.

Howard Gregory, Chairman of Wilmslow Guild AV Group, explained "Sequences will be shown on a "first come, first served" basis, so please book in advance. As usual our guest speakers will be the three judges from Saturday who will be discussing and demonstrating various A-V techniques using some of their sequences as illustrations. If past years are anything to go by, numerous nuggets of valuable information will be freely given.

"We try to make the event as friendly as possible by providing name badges and including time for socialising and browsing. You will be welcome on any day, or for the whole weekend. The event is popular, so advance booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment."

The weekend event also provides the opportunity to bring and buy second hand equipment.

Full details of the weekend, and booking forms, can be downloaded from the Great Northern section of the website
