Wilmslow Town U16’s maintain 100% record

Wilmslow Town U16’s maintained their 100% winning start with a 3 -1 win over local team Woodhouse Park. Last season had seen high scoring, close games between these two teams, but with goals from Gibson-Smith (2) and Kirk the points were secured. Although early in the season, this win puts them in a good position in the league.

Despite facing a well organised defence and a strong goal keeper, the U15’s proved the stronger at the weekend as they travelled to Winton to run out winners 5 - 2. There was another hat-trick for Swindells with Johnson and Stanyer adding the others.

After a tough match last week, the U14’s regained their form with a 1 - 0 win over Urmston Town. Goals were harder to come by than in the reverse fixture at the start of the season. This weeks was the result of a goal line scramble which ended with the ball being helped over the line by a member of the opposition.

One of the highest scoring matches of the weekend came from the U12 Panthers who welcomed Lymm Rovers to the Jim Evison playing fields. Town had most of the action in the first half, finishing at 6 - 1. With Lymm gaining in confidence in the second half, Town stepped up their defence to maintain and add to their lead, finishing at 8 - 3. Keeping their match reporter busy were Murphy (2), Saks (2), Botham, Mail, Leigh, Short.

After their first win last week, the U10 Panthers were looking to build on last weeks performance and didn’t let the spectators down by winning 1 - 0 against Wythenshawe Town. Despite spending long periods in the Wythenshawe half, Town were unable to convert chances to goals. It was Constantine that was able to breech the defence in the second period to earn the points.

Another high scoring match saw the U9 Jaguars run out 7 - 5 winners against Benchill Celtic. This was the Jaguars first real test , but one that they started strongly, scoring five goals in the first third and conceding only one. The final score sheet showed McEwen-Patterson (4), WIlliams (2) and Maguire as being on target.

The U9 Cougars have had mixed fortunes so far, but this week were back to winning ways against local rivals Alderley United winning 4 - 1. There was a goal each for Archer, Greensmith, Livingston and Mail. For full match reports, see the Wilmslow Town website.
