At the opening of the new season, players from Wilmslow Town JFC were proud to wear the FA Charter Status badge on their new kits. Cheshire County Football Association has awarded Wilmslow based club Wilmslow Town JFC the prestigious FA Charter Standard Development Club award for grassroots football.

The FA Charter Standard programme, supported by FA partner McDonald’s, was established to help clubs to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and safeguarding children. The FA Charter Standard award is presented to those clubs like Wilmslow Town JFC who have raised their standards in these areas and lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch in grassroots football.

Carl Garner, Wilmslow Town Secretary said “Since forming in 2009, the whole club has worked hard to raise standards both on and off the field. This award is a welcome recognition of our efforts. In achieving Charter Standard status, all players, parents and Club officials sign up to the FA’s recommended Codes of Conduct.”

“Thanks in part to a subsidy from the Cheshire FA’s Development Department, every Wilmslow Town Manager has completed the FA’s Level One coaching course. This ensures that our young players have access to first class coaching and that managers are also equipped with the latest advice on Child Protection and First Aid.”

Peter Nicholls, Senior Football Development Officer comments “The FA Charter Standard award acknowledges the support Wilmslow Town JFC provides to the local community and their efforts to ensure the club offers opportunities for players to de-velop their skills and play football in a safe and positive environment. The Cheshire County FA is committed to raising the standards of football at grassroots level and the dedication and achievements of clubs like Wilmslow Town JFC make this possible.”
