You now have the opportunity to beat the rush and purchase tickets for the Alderley & Wilmslow Amateur Operatic Society's production of the multi-Tony award nominated musical Mack and Mabel. The show is being staged at The Evans Theatre, Wilmslow Leisure Centre from the 8th to the13th November 2010.

Out of the Silent Movie era and the heady heights of 1920s Hollywood, the classic musical Mack and Mabel tells the heart-wrenching love story of two of it greatest legends: director Mack Sennett "The King of Comedy" and his star, comedienne Mabel Normand.

In a series of flashbacks, Mack takes the audience through the glory days of the Keystone Kops, his infamous bathing beauties and his relationship with Mabel Normand, one of his greatest stars.

From its Broadway debut at the Majestic Theatre in 1974, the musical has gone from strength to strength, peaking most noticeably perhaps when Torvill and Dean won the gold medal in the 1982 World Figure Skating Championships performing to the overture from the original cast album. With a score by Jerry Herman, who wrote Hello Dolly, La Cage aux Folles and Mame, it boasts memorable tunes such as I Won't Send Roses and the rip-roaring Tap Your Troubles Away.
