Samia Smith supports Midnight Walk

With this year's Midnight Walk just around the corner, East Cheshire Hospice patron Samia Smith has once again put her best foot forward in support of her favourite charity.

When she visited East Cheshire Hospice last week, Alderley Edge resident Samia invited a film crew from Granada Reports to join her to raise people's awareness of the hospice and the wonderful support that it gives to its patients and their loved ones.

The hospice is very close to Samia's heart following the care given there to her father last year.

Whilst at the hospice, Samia registered for her place on the walk. Samia said "Last year I was unable to do the walk as I was expecting my first child, Freya. However, I was delighted to be on the start line to send everyone on their way and my family and friends all took part and had a really great time. This year I will be joining them and walking myself in memory of my dad, Joe. I am really looking forward to it and hope everyone will come along and support this great local charity."

"The Midnight Walk is our biggest event of the year," says hospice fundraiser Lara Rigby. "Last year we raised over £110,000 for the hospice and we hope to do the same this year. Knowing that Samia will be joining us is great news and we hope that it will encourage more people to sign up.

"We also have a brand new route from last year," continued Lara.

The walk is on Saturday, 11th September and will start at midnight once again from Macclesfield Leisure Centre ending up there after a fully marshaled 10k walk in the Macclesfield area.

The closing date for this year's walk is drawing near so register today so you don't miss out. You can register online or contact the fundraising team on 01625 433477.
