Hospice Midnight Walk gets a revamp

Now in its third year the East Cheshire Hospice Midnight Walk has been revamped, offering a whole new experience for walkers.

Hospice fundraiser Lara Rigby, who organises the walk, said "The Midnight Walk has been a phenomenal success for two years now, raising over £180,000 in total. We are however increasingly aware that in a tough economic climate we need to keep our events fresh and exciting for all of our supporters."

This year's walk is therefore encompassing many new and exciting ideas that the hospice is confident will encourage more people to join in this fabulous event.

Lara said "The registration process is our first major change. With online registration now available it really couldn't be simpler. Simply log on to our website and fill in the form."

Ben Amos goalkeeper for Manchester United, recently signed up online. Ben said "It was so easy to register. It took me five minutes to do and it really was straight forward." Ben who is a new supporter of East Cheshire Hospice, hopes to join walkers on the night.

Hospice fundraisers have also devised a brand new route for this year's walk. The new route will take walkers along Gawsworth Road and back along Congleton and Oxford Roads.

Lara explained "It took us a long time to finalise the new route and we have worked closely with the police and local authorities to come up with the best one. We have several road closures in place for the night to ensure walker's safety at all times."

Other new aspects of the walk include a range of branded clothing items. Walkers can choose between a t-shirt or a morf as part of their registration pack. The morfs are versatile neck scarves which can be worn in over 15 different ways.

Lara said "One thing that will not be changed however is the party atmosphere on the night, the walk will continue to be a great night out for everyone involved.

"Last year many walkers came in fancy dress, helping to create a fantastic party atmosphere, so please do get your thinking caps on and plan your fancy dress costume, for inspiration why not visit our website and have a look at last year's costumes."

The closing date for Midnight Walk entries is fast approaching, so sign up today and secure your place. Register online or contact Lara in fundraising on 01625 433477 for further information.
