Weight Watchers raise funds for hospice

Despite the rain a Garden Party hosted by Weight Watchers' leader June Bailey went ahead at her home on Saturday, July 17th.

Members of Wilmslow and Handforth Weight Watchers donated clothes, shoes, handbags and jewellery for sale, with all the proceeds going to East Cheshire Hospice.

June Bailey said "East Cheshire Hospice was chosen by one of my members as it is a self funded organisation which needs to raise nearly £6000 every day just to keep going.

"One of my relations spent his last days there before passing away with cancer earlier this year and the care and treatment all patients receive is second to none."

Pimms, sandwiches and scones were served and local acupuncturist Genieve Cropper donated her time to read tarot cards. Everyone went away with a free gift of a Weight Watchers' cookbook.

A total of £580 was raised during the afternoon and all the unsold items were given to a local charity shop.

June said "The event itself was a great success, a lot of hard work but worth it. Everyone has been emailing me to tell me how much they enjoyed the afternoon despite the rain."
