East Cheshire Hospice has announced that Chief Executive Jayne Bessant has accepted the recently advertised position of Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice in Manchester and so will leave the organisation at the end of June.

Jayne, who lives in Manchester, joined East Cheshire Hospice in 2007 and during that time has done much to consolidate and strengthen the organisation which delivers such a crucial service for local people.

Announcing news of her departure, Jayne said: “I would like to thank everyone for the fantastic support I have received during my time at the hospice. My decision to leave was a difficult one as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at East Cheshire and learnt so much from so many.

"It has been undoubtedly a period where everyone has worked tirelessly to develop the organisation and make it the best it can be. So much positive change has been brought about by the fantastic work of all the staff and the volunteers. I feel privileged to have been part of this and feel sure the foundations are set for the hospice to go forward.”

Roger Payne, the hospice Chair of Trustees commented: “Leading a hospice as big as St Ann’s is a wonderful opportunity for Jayne and we all wish her well. She leaves East Cheshire Hospice immeasurably stronger than it was when she first joined and the Council of Trustees would like to congratulate her on all she has achieved.”

A recruitment process to appoint a new Chief Executive is now underway and the hospice looks forward to announcing the new post holder shortly.
