Police seek witnesses as cyclist is injured

Police are seeking witnesses to a collision which resulted in a cyclist receiving a fractured hand. The collision happened around 9 pm on Friday 7th May 2010, but was only reported to police in the last few days.

The incident took place on Lacey Green and involved a green GT Mountain Bike being struck by a white Ford Transit Van. The cyclist was clipped by the van as he cycled towards Styal Road. The van had pulled in between parked cars to allow oncoming traffic to pass, and the driver may be unaware that a cyclist was caught as this manoeuvre was carried out.

The cyclist, a 38 year old local man, fell from his bicycle. As a result of the impact he suffered a fracture to his hand, bruises and grazes.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Lacey Green area of Wilmslow around 9 pm or just after, on Friday 7th May, and may have witnessed the incident or have any information which could assist the collision investigator. Police are also asking the driver of the van, if they recognise themselves from the circumstances described, to make contact with police.

If you can assist in any way at all, please contact the investigating officer, Constable Larry Miveld, at the Roads Policing Unit at Wilmslow on 0845 458 0000.

Information can also be offered on the Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111.
