Play date brings joy to generations

Some children from Handforth Youth Club visited some elderly residents for a couple of hours to play games and have some fun this week.

A group of nine children aged between 4 and 11 visited the Always Active Group at Handforth Youth Centre for a two hour 'intergenerational' play date on Monday, 19th February.

Councillor Julie Smith said "The idea was to give both groups the opportunity to spend some time together colouring in, doing word searches together and constructing models of Blackpool tower using spaghetti and marshmallows.

"It was a really successful experience and one that we'll be doing again as both groups had a wonderful time and were reluctant to say goodbye when the children had to leave."

*Always Active is a group for residents with dementia and other, age related conditions.
