Police continue crackdown on illegal parking outside schools

Police were patrolling local schools again this week to tackle the problem of illegal and dangerous parking.

PCSO Morris has been focussing on the parking around Ashdene Primary School at drop-off and pick-up times.

On Tuesday 23rd January, he visited the school both in the morning and afternoon to discourage offences, advise drivers and enforce against obstructive parking.

Two vehicles were issued Fixed Penalty Notices for obstruction of the pavement.

PCSO Morris said "Road safety is a big feature of neighbourhood policing. As is the way with public services, we have to prioritise the problems that we deal with – and can't be everywhere at once.

"As such, we evaluate where our time and resources are focused, which for the purposes of road safety can look at: the assessed severity of the issue; the level of concern within the community and partner organisations; and whether it is something the police have control over (the local authority, not the police, enforce single- and double-yellow lines, for instance)."

He added "If you wish to raise a road safety priority (anonymously and often as you wish), please visit https://orlo.uk/cfN20 to fill out a short survey (you only need to answer the questions that you want to). Please choose the Local Policing Unit "Macclesfield" before the ward area of "Wilmslow West and Chorley."

About time! Gorsey Bank next I hope. The assumption is that there is an exemption to any traffic legalities so long as children are being delivered or collected from school.
