A 35-year-old local man tragically died after being struck by a falling branch in Wilmslow on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 2.15pm on the public footpath leading from Kings Road to The Carrs, alongside Wilmslow Rugby Club.
A Police spokesperson said "At around 2.15pm on Sunday 9 July, police were called to reports that a man had been hit by a large branch that had fallen from a tree on a public footpath between Styal Road and Kings Road.
"Officers attended the scene and sadly the man, a 35-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and both the Public Rights of Way department and Health and Safety Executive have been informed."
