A Wilmslow restaurant has applied for planning permission to enable them to expand into the neighbouring units.

Cibo on Green Lane is planning to expand into the former Flame and Wok unit located next door, with part removal of the existing shop front, and into the Mobitechs Phone repair shop unit in the Grove Arcade, with minor adaptation to the existing shop frontage.

The scheme also includes the extension of the ground floor retractable roof terrace onto the hardstanding in front of 5 Green Lane, removing of a private parking space.

In order to enable the expansion plans to be carried out Cheshire East Council will need to grant change of use from Retail to Class E Restaurant for the above mentioned properties.

Plans to merge two units in the town centre to create a single restaurant have been approved.

In January 2021 the owners of Cibo were granted planning permission to combine 31 and 33 Grove Street into a single property and change the use from retail to enable them to open a restaurant which would trade independantly from Cibo.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 23/0648M.

The plans seem to be acceptable to all concerned, I’m just gutted we’ve lost the best Chinese takeaway in Wilmslow, the “Flame and Wok”.

If the 'Flame & Wok' was that good, why did it fail? We find the Peking Garden and the Red Lantern to be excellent. There may be others equally as good.
