Guide dog presentation(1)

September 2003 aged 11 and just starting out at High School this bunch of 30 or so one day decided to have a form charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind. By March 2005, they had raised a £1,000 mainly by collecting loose change in the school Canteen, that’s a hundred thousand pennies.

Armed with the cash they were able to name their first Guide Dog puppy a little black Labrador “Enjay” after our form, NJW. In June 2005 they had sponsored a Second Guide Dog puppy called “Jake”.

By January 2006 they had managed to raise another £1,000 and named a third Guide Dog puppy “Sammy”. December 2006 they sponsored a fourth Guide Dog puppy, a Labrador/poodle cross called “Seb”.

In October 2007 a fifth Guide Dog puppy a Golden Labrador called “Chloe” was sponsored. By spring 2008 they had raised a further amazing £1.000 and named their sixth Guide Dog puppy, a German Shepherd, “Bella”.

June 2009 they sponsored “Ollie” another German Shepherd and their seventh Guide Dog puppy. Then in September 2009 one of the form decided to sponsor his own puppy “Penny” making it eight!

As well as their work for Guide Dogs they have supported twenty-three other charities, sending £30 to each.

Now in March 2010 tutor group 13NJW have just presented a further £1,000 to The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. This time they have named the Guide Dog puppy, their ninth, “Gill” after the schools Head teacher, Mrs Gill Bremner.

To receive the cheque and present a framed photograph of the puppy, a golden Labrador, Mr Bryan Rigg, his wife Iris and last but not least his Guide Dog “Iain” visited the school one morning during assembly.
