What a horrible thing to happen! I do hope the girl concerned is ok. It must have been terrifying.
Cars often drive much too fast up Bedell’s Lane in both directions. I use that zebra crossing on a daily basis and I can attest to the very poor quality of driving that you so often see. It’s almost as if some drivers are angry with you for slowing them down! Of course many people drive with courtesy but there are so many cars going in different directions the crossing is inherently dangerous. When are we going to change our behaviour and our road infrastructure so that pedestrians get absolute priority and avoiding accidents becomes our overall number one priority on our roads?
