Cyclist left seriously injured following assault in Wilmslow town centre

Police were called to Wilmslow town centre at 7.22pm on Tuesday, 21st August, following reports of a serious assault.

A 51-year-old man and 12-year-old boy from Carmarthenshire had been cycling on Alderley Road. When they approached the traffic lights at the junction of Swan Street there was an altercation with two occupants of a car.

The cyclist was assaulted and taken to hospital with serious injuries. The boy was unharmed but shaken by the incident.

Following an investigation a 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man from Wilmslow were arrested and have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
