Having previously completed the Wilmslow Half Marathon on 15 occasions, a local resident stood out from the crowd of runners on Sunday, 24th June, when he completed the race dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Will Doherty, 58, turned out once again in the heat and pushed his "Black Pearl" wheelbarrow the full 13.1 miles to raise money for a defibrillator for his sailing club in North Wales,

He said "In total I raised £300 in cash towards buying a defibrillator. It will cost £1000 so I have a little more to do, my next race will be Conway half marathon running up the Great Orm."

He added "A big thank you to all the team especially the stewards and helpers on the day."
