Oliver Romain kindly sent us this photo which he shot in his back garden in Wilmslow town centre.

Oliver said "It's a Common Darter Dragon Fly ( Sympetrum striolatum) male.

"It's not having a fruity snack, it's using the raspberry as a perch from which it will wait for prey and dart off to catch them before returning to the perch."

With thanks to my son Arthur and his friend Mark who both found the Dragon Fly whilst making raspberry chocolate sauce in the garden. And narrowly missed picking the Dragon Fly.
