Passengers assured parking is now even safer at Wilmslow Station

The car park at Wilmslow Station has been recognised as one of the safest places to leave your car due to the low level of crime and measures that are in place to help ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

Wilmslow is one of 38 stations across the Northern network to have been handed Park Mark accreditation for safer parking. The station was independently assessed by specialists from the police and has been shown to have strong management practices and security measures that actively reduce crime.

Stephen Green, Northern's Travel Integration and Accessibility Manager, said: "Safety is priority for Northern and whether our customers are in a car park, at a station, on a platform or on a train we want them to be safe, and feel safe.

"We are working hard to improve and modernise our services and stations and are committed to an ambitious and wide-ranging programme that will transform rail travel in the north of England.

"As part of this we want to make our stations and car parks are as safe as possible for customers and reassure those who choose to leave their cars behind that their vehicles are just as safe."

Is this also true of that lower car park which used to be virually unlit? I found it one of the most unnerving car parks I have ever used. With the risk of the Meadows being locked, if I have to return late to the station I get a cab to avoid it having to go anywhere near it.

I'm surprised by this as parking at Wilmslow station is awful!

There is minimal parking available, with the front car park dangerous because of the ridiculous number of taxis and the aggression from some of the taxi drivers.

I agree with you Helen - walking to the rear car park, (and to Broadway Meadow) feels very risky in the dark.

It is not the safest place to avoid an accident, its one of the worst. The driving is atrocious with drivers diving in and out of spaces without looking.
