Wilmslow U3A is the latest group to benefit from a very special performance by International Concert Pianist Andrew Wilde as part of his busy Outreach Programme in the North West.

Andrew Wilde, described by Daniel Barenboim as 'a major musical and pianistic talent', studied with Ryszard Bakst at Chetham's School of Music and graduated with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music.

He received top prizes at many international piano competitions including the Naumburg in New York (1987), Pozzoli in Seregno (Italy) (1988), William Kapell in Maryland (1989), Dino Ciani in Milan (1990), and World Competition in London (1991). In 1985 he won First Prize and Special Prize (for 20th Century performance) at the Dudley Piano Competition.

Andrew has given recitals at major venues in Great Britain and abroad, including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Warsaw, Milan, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Santiago (Chile), Washington DC, New York City, Dallas, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Berlin and Budapest. His concerto repertoire exceeds thirty works and he has performed these with major orchestras worldwide: the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle, National Symphony Washington DC and Dallas Symphony.

He will perform at St Bartholomew's Church on Saturday 22nd October, starting at 3pm.

Andrew Wilde said: "I am looking forward enormously to playing for Members of Wilmslow U3A. It will be a great pleasure for me to share with a new public some of the wonderful music written for piano. I hope to reach out to those for whom it may prove a revelation, a new delight to be pursued and developed over the years."

Entrance is free but donations to the Oscar the Organ Fund would be very welcome.

Tea and cakes will be served after the recital.

These performances are sponsored by the North West Music Trust which is committed to bringing the wonderful world of piano to all, delighting new audiences of all ages with world class performances in schools, social centres and residential homes throughout the region.
