Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary is inviting people to join them for their annual sponsored dog walk to help them raise much needed funds whilst enjoying a day out.

The six mile circular walk will set off from The Ship Inn in Styal at 10.30am on Sunday, 16th October.

They will be walking through The National Trust's Styal estate and Lindow Common with a stop off at The Animal Sanctuary, off Newgate Lane, where scones and refreshments will be available. Participants are advised to allow 3 to 4 hours for the walk.

Nicola Foster said "The walk is fairly easy, without much incline and is suitable for most people and dogs with average fitness who can walk six miles. This walk is not suitable for wheelchairs or push chairs. Some country footpaths, grass and minor roads are used."

Money raised through sponsorship will go towards veterinary bills, medication, food, bedding and much more.

Entry is £5 per dog and as a thank you for their support each pooch will also receive a rosette for taking part.

Entry and sponsorship forms are available from the Sanctuary and from their website.

On the day of the walk, please bring your completed sponsorship form and money collected to the registration point at the car park of The Ship Inn, Styal. Registration opens at 10am, the walk will start at 10:30am.

Walkers must wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring along snacks and enough water for your dogs which must be kept on leads or under close control at all times.

Nicola added "Please help us by sending your entry form and payment no later than Friday 14th October 2016. Dogs walking with you must be included on the entry form to receive a rosette. All children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult."
