Blooming marvellous display at village show

The 24th Annual Handforth Village Show was held at Honford Hall on Saturday, 16th July.

The event was organised by Handforth Gardening Society and attracted over 230 entries in exhibitor sections ranging from crafts and cookery to creative skills and horticultural products.

There were also separate children's sections to encourage younger people in the village to take an interest in gardening and one of the best supported classes are those in which members of Handforth Gardening Society are given mini fuchsia and pelargonium in April and asked to grow them for exhibiting at the show.

Simon Poucher, Secretary of Handforth Gardening Society, said "Members of the public who came into the show said that they enjoyed the event very much, and flower arranging judge Sue Mitchell believed that the standard of exhibits in her section were as good as anything she had seen at Chelsea."

Alderman Barry Burkhill presented the prizes to the well-deserved winners.
