Plans have been submitted to enable a new sushi bar to open in the town centre.

Zumu Sushi has applied for a change of use from retail (A1) to Sushi Café (A3) for 7 Bank Square - the vacant retail unit which was previously occupied by The Goal Post sports shop.

The proposal scheme will work within the existing layout of the building with no structural changes required and the exterior of the building will not alter.

Zumu Sushi would employ 4 full-time and 4 part time members of staff though no proposed opening hours were included in the application which can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 16/3322M.

The last date for submitting comments is August 2nd and a decision is expected by September 5th.

Yet ANOTHER business opening in these premises. I've lost count of the number of hopefuls that have tried their luck in this spot. The problem is of course the lack of parking, the dreaded yellow lines. Hey ho - Good Luck folks!

Good luck indeed. Should last about as long as a piece of sushi.

At least it is bringing something new to the town and not yet another jewellers or charity shop. Good luck; but as has been said before, many of these niche retailers tend to run into trouble especially if they think they can charge more because this is Wilmslow.

Many retail start-ups esp in Wilmslow fail due to lack of prior market research (footfall, inability to respond to future trends) ie poor business plan.
Wilmslow is well served with restaurants offering national cuisines, inc Japanese. Maybe this Suchi bar has identified a sustainable niche clientele & I wish it success.
