A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the Queen's 90th birthday, organised by and for people in Wilmslow, will take place on Sunday, 12th June.

Drawing together people from across the community, the service of worship has been planned by members of local churches and will be conducted by the Rector, Revd Dr Paul Smith at St Bartholomew's Parish Church.

The service will commence at 3pm and include a thanksgiving for the Queen's long life of public duty. It will also provide a chance to celebrate the help given to others by people in Wilmslow, including charities, volunteers and community groups of all kinds.

At the end of the service, copies of a special commemorative booklet, 'The Servant Queen and the King she serves', will be given out as a gift from Churches Together in Wilmslow.

Kirsty Thorpe, minister of Wilmslow United Reformed Church and chair of Churches Together in Wilmslow said: "We hope people will be glad of this opportunity to mark the Queen's birthday together, in our town, with hymns and prayers as well as street parties.

"The Queen never makes a secret of the fact that she draws her inspiration and energy from her faith in God. We have a great deal to be thankful for in the strong witness she gives to her personal faith."
