To celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth's 90th Birthday the Friends of Stanley Hall Park are creating an old fashioned street party within the confines of the park.

The event will commence at 12.45pm with a float setting off from Shentons Farm and making its way to Stanley Hall Park, carrying their Queen for the day and her ladies in waiting.

The Queen will then officially open the event and the park's new picnic area.

Afternoon tea, consisting of sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee with jelly and juice for the children, will be served in the multi-use games area which will be decorated for this special occasion with red white and blue bunting and table cloths.

Entertainment will be provided by the Oakmere Singers and Dance Addicts troupe which will be followed by a dog show and cake competition to be judged by local experts.

Secretary of the friends group, Janet Taylor, said "The timing is perfect for us, we have recently completed a fully accessible picnic area so will be combining the official opening of the area within the event.

"We will also be carrying out the new skatepark consultation within the event having recently received £75, 000 funding from Veolia, Wren and the Police Commissioner Fund. We have been rather busy!"

Additionally, the Friends of the Parish of Wilmslow, which raises money for St. Bartholomew's and St. Anne's churches, is putting on a tea party in honour of the official 90th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

Everyone is welcome and those attending are requested to wear red, white and blue.

The tea will be held on Saturday, 11th June, inside St. Bartholomew's Church and kick-off at 3pm with a glass of fizz.

Jonathan Meadmore, Chairman of The Friends of the Parish of Wilmslow, said "It should be a lovely occasion and is a lot cheaper than the tea party on the Mall in London for the price of £150. All are welcome."

Entry is by ticket, priced £7.50 for adults and £5 for children. The tickets are available from the Parish Hall on 01625 520309 or from Jonathan Meadmore on 01625 549196.

On Sunday 12th June there will be a service at 3pm in St. Bartholomew's Church in honour of the 90th Birthday of the Queen. Again, all are welcome.
