A scout group in Handforth is organising a bonfire and fireworks display this year as part of their 90th anniversary celebrations.
Having ceased to take place for a couple of years, 1st Handforth Scout Group are bringing back this family event on Saturday, 7th November. It will be held at their their Scout Hut, which is next to Handforth Youth Club, starting from 5pm.
In addition to the firework display and bonfire there will be a BBQ, serving both meat and vegetarian options, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available on site as well as sweets, crisps and other treats. There will also be other attractions in the Scout Hut to keep guests entertained before and after the display.
Deborah Robson, who has been involved in running the scout group for many years, said "1st Handforth Scout bonfire had become expected in the community and unfortunately the last couple of years the event ceased to happen and people really missed the annual event.
"But I am pleased to say that due to the dedication of leaders and the enthusiastic support of parent volunteers we are bringing this annual event back which just happens to coincide with our 90th Anniversary of Scouting in Handforth.
"I hope that the community will help us celebrate by coming along to support our fundraising efforts, buy a glass of mulled wine, a burger maybe, try your luck on our Tombola and enjoy the fireworks!"
Handforth Bonfire and Fireworks Night is a charity event with all proceeds going to 1st Handforth Scouting group to help them continue the scouting movement in Handforth.
Gates will open at 5pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm and the fireworks display will follow at 7.30pm.
Tickets can be bought on the night, £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, or at reduced prices if bought in advance via the website - £4 for adults and £2 for children.
