The new season started in style for Wilmslow Hockey Club, on Saturday 5th September the hockey club held a Great Wilmslow Bake Off as part of England Hockey Association club day.

The day begun with the Cheshire Ladies tournament for all to participate in, which was shortly followed by a ladies first team friendly against Lymm which was a nail biting match but ended with a 0-0 result despite all the entertainment.

After the games everyone thoroughly enjoyed a pre-season get together. Everyone got really involved in the bake off in true competitive style and there was a great display of wonderful cakes.

At 4.30pm, the club welcomed Dee Waugh a professional baker and member of Fulshaw Women's Institute and Vicki Brody also a professional baker to judge the great display of cakes. Each cake was scrutinized and tasted by the judges and after much deliberation they announced 3 winners.

The winners were in 1st place Meredith Stevenson, 2nd place Chris Dymond and 3rd place went to Charlotte Kelman. Two cakes were highly commended they were baked by Jess Finney and Nicola Mapes.

The event was a huge success and brought the whole club together for a very enjoyable day, a huge thank you goes to Jenny Middleton-Egan, ladies club captain for organizing the day on behalf of Wilmslow Hockey Club.
