Town centre pub prepares to reopen after major refurbishment

A town centre pub will reopen next month having undergone a complete refurbishment.

Following a £500,000 investment by the Spirit Pub Company, what was The Swan will open on June 15th as a new pub and called Anthology.

Experienced licensee Alex (Jocky) Wilson will return to Wilmslow to take over at the Swan Street premises, having opened The Rectory in Wilmslow in 1996. The following year he went on to develop and open The Samuel Finney (currently Revolution) and then in 2000 he moved on to The Braz at Brasingamens in Alderley Edge before developing the 161 concept in Hale and Knutsford.

After a spell of six years in Stockport, Alex has decided to take advantage of the partnership offered by Spirit Pub Company to create Anthology.

Alex told me "The Swan, which has been neglected for some 10 years, is being transformed to create a new addition to an already thriving food and drink market in a busy town centre.

"Anthology will incorporate a pub, wine bar and cocktail bar with a large new garden area.

"A new open plan kitchen will focus on freshly prepared and home cooked food made predominantly for sharing."
